Crossfire reviews “Stand Up and Be Counted”
They keep coming! Crossfire webzine from Germany reviewed our first release and
here it is…obviously translated.
Fancy some traditional metal? Then you should at least give Obscurus Rex a listen.
The band was formed in 2021 and serves up a set of four tracks with their EP “Stand Up And Be Counted.”
As far as I can tell from the names, the quartet hails from Greece. At least for me, lead singer Manos Xanthakis took some getting used to during the first three listens, sounding a bit like Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden) when he was still with his old band Wolfsbane.
However, when the frontman drifts into melodic parts, like in the chorus of the song “Your Enemy Tonight,” he is more than adequate.
A notable feature is that the band delivers rather long tracks, but they don’t overdo it.
Nevertheless, it all sounds quite entertaining.
The EP is now available in Digital & CD form on Bandcamp!
